FAQ'S & Policies

Q1. What is Stage Education?

Stage Education is a one-day-per-week flexi-schooling programme providing elite performing arts training in acting, singing, and dance. Pupils remain fully enrolled in their mainstream school, with one authorised day each week to train off-site under Code B (educated off-site).

Q2. Will my child fall behind academically?

No. Stage Education works in partnership with schools to ensure pupils remain fully up to date with their academic learning. Each training day includes dedicated time for revision or schoolwork where provided by the pupil’s school.

Q3. What does “flexi-schooling” mean?

Flexi-schooling allows pupils to combine mainstream education with specialist off-site training. Pupils remain on roll at their current school, and attendance on their Stage day is authorised by the school as Code B.

Q4. Do children need to audition?

Yes. Stage Education is designed for exceptionally dedicated and talented young performers. Entry is by audition and assessment to ensure the right level of ability, focus, and commitment.

Q5. Who can apply?

Children in Key Stages 1, 2, and 3 who show outstanding potential in dance, singing, or acting are welcome to apply. Pupils must also have good attendance and behaviour at their mainstream school.

Q6. How much does it cost?

Fees are£145 per month(over 12 months),equivalent to just over £45 per day.

Discounts and scholarship awards are available (see Fees and Funding section).

Q7. What qualifications will my child work towards?

Pupils have the opportunity to take Ofqual-regulated performing arts exams, and these qualifications can carry UCAS points at higher levels.

Q8. Is Stage Education a full-time school?

No. Stage Education complements your child’s existing education — it’s one full day of professional training per week, not a replacement for school.

Q9. How does attendance work?

Schools record attendance for Stage Education days using Code B (educated off-site). Pupils remain registered at their mainstream school at all times.

Q10. Will my child need permission from their theatre or stage school?

Yes. We believe in full transparency and open communication between all training providers. Working collaboratively ensures that your child’s timetable, training load, and wellbeing are balanced in the best possible way.

Q11. Will my child be able to drop an evening of classes at Stage if they join Stage Education?

It’s very possible that pupils won’t need to attend as many evening sessions during the week. Stage Education offers intensive, full-day training — so many students find that they can drop one night of evening classes and still maintain their progress, balance, and performance standard.

Q12. Will there be a uniform?

Yes. Stage Education will have a simple, professional uniform designed for comfort and consistency during training. It reflects the discipline and professionalism of the school while allowing full movement for dance and performance. Uniform details and ordering information will be provided upon enrolment.

Q13. Will training at Stage Education affect my child’s commitments to other agencies or productions?

Not at all. We fully support external professional opportunities and simply ask parents to keep us informed so we can coordinate training schedules and maintain academic balance.

Q14. What if my child’s school is unsure about granting permission?

We are happy to communicate directly with schools to explain the flexi-schooling process. Stage Education is structured to complement, not replace, academic learning — and we ensure all study requirements are met.

Q15. What should my child bring each week?

Comfortable training wear, dance shoes, lunch, a water bottle, and any schoolwork provided. Scripts or song materials will be supplied by Stage Education when needed.

Q16. What are the long-term outcomes?

Many Stage-trained children progress to professional work in film, television, and theatre or continue training at elite performing arts

colleges. Our goal is to nurture young talent while maintaining academic and personal balance.
